Art and Mathematics

Artists often  utilize general mathematics concepts as the tool and even the source of inspiration to give expression of their vision. As the scientist D’Arcy Thompson once stated, “Mathematically we can define the form of a wave or a heap of sand, but never ask a mathematician to define the form of any particular wave of the sea, nor the actual form of any mountain peak or hill. That is the task of the artist. Not only will he or she give you the particular wave or mountain hill, but it will be the reflection of his or her perception of that wave or peak unlike any other”
